Why Small Groups?
The mission of Bergen Park Church is to glorify Jesus Christ and make Him Known in the home community and beyond. One of Jesus’ best strategies was to gather with a few who would soon make Jesus known. This strategy of deciplemaking is one we wish to continue at Bergen Park through our Growth Groups. These small cells help a believer’s spiritual growth in the following ways:
- Learning from God’s Word: These sessions are neither sermons nor lectures. Growth Groups open the Bible and study it together. This allows for more questions, reflections and personal applications.
- Group Prayer: Growth Group members share their confidential prayer requests with one another that allow personal prayer and follow up between their gatherings.
- Genuine Caring: When needs arise their Growth Groups are the second line of defense for meeting needs. Since so many of us have no family in the area, Growth Groups have provided meals for the sick, baby showers for the expecting or transportation when a spouse is away. Jesus told his disciples the world would believe in Him through the love believers would show to one another. Growth Groups are our base for caring.
- For Ministry: Each Growth Group will have some ministry they will do as a group, after spending their gathering time serving Jesus and others.
- Friends and Fun: There are many unofficial Growth Group meetings where friends gather to watch Bronco games, go on hikes and picnics, grab some coffee or shop.
The beginning of the school year is a great time to join a Growth Group or launch a new one. Each current one is listed on the back of this bulletin. To find out more talk to one of the leaders listed.
